MeMadeMay 2019 Day 19
“MeMadeMay (2019) day 19! Holy Cats! I’ve worn my own stuff so much that wearing a non-me-made dress to a party yesterday was scratchy and uncomfortable. My third photo today is a peek at how I keep taking my photos: propped against various city objects (today it was a Little Free Library) and self-timed.”
I very vaguely remember the dress in question from this post. It was a Unique Vintage dress, which I’ve always had very mixed feelings about. On one hand, I don’t mind vintage styling being more accessible to a wider variety of people, whether that is because of expense or because of the availability of sizes. On the other hand, the Unique Vintage branded things that I owned were all sort of finished horribly on the inside and felt like the awful acetate party dresses that we all had to wear as children in the 80s. I’m overall much happier with my current wardrobe, which is very heavily self-made, true vintage, or from Hammies (this is not an affiliate link, but it should be, because I talk them up at every opportunity.)
In any case, this is my self-drafted circle skirt again. And! If I am correct (and I am pretty certain I am), this particular Little Free Library had a cheeky sign on it during the early days of lockdowns, when we were all still trying to figure out how people were transmitting COVID, that explained that “after (something like 150 years or something ridiculous) the library was unfortunately going to be closed for a while to undergo maintenance, thank you for your patronage and we’ll see you in the near future.” or something to that effect. It was sort of a cute way to deal with the uncertainty of the time.
