MeMadeMay 2019 Day 22

“MeMadeMay (2019) day 22. I had to talk myself up to wearing this thing outside, even though I love it. It’s one of those things Michael Kors would tell me “I question your taste level” for, if I had it on Project Runway. But I love it. It looks like I wrapped myself up in my parents’ floral couch from the 70s.”

Ok, first of all, it was my parents’ floral couch from the 80s.

Second of all, my entire aesthetic is Michael Kors telling me “I question your taste level”. What the hell does he know anyway? (He knows a lot, I’m sure, but he’s not the arbiter of good taste, that’s for damn sure.)

Third of all, I’m pretty sure I still have this thing around *somewhere*, but don’t bother asking me where, because I have no idea. I might have gotten rid of it, I really can’t remember anymore. Was it comfortable? Yes. Was it hideous? In the best way possible. Did I wear it? Hardly ever. One day, I’ll probably empty my laundry hamper and find it at the very bottom, where it’s been for, I don’t know, the last four years or something absurd like that.

Pattern is Simplicity 6959, from 1975. I also used this same pattern to make a romper from circus animal bedsheets for my boss, and also for The Jesus’ purple boiler suit from The Big Lebowski for a burlesque show. Because of course I did.
